Woven fish-traps..................

I watched two teenage kids knock this up over a three day period,the craftsmanship really is superb,its woven from bamboo slats,the bikes parked next to it for perspective...................

Well there's certainly some work gone into that.......terrific job that.........and all our kids can do is sit on the computer all day. Is there a door in it somewhere to remove the trapped fish. Its funny but all fish traps are basically the same wherever you are in the world.........which country was that one from?

Theres a door at the back mate,they sink them along the edges of reef's,this ones much bigger than the ones I have seen in the past,heres a couple of smaller ones,the two kids who wove them are about 15 or 16 years old?The traps are in the sulu islands mate.

IVE SEEN A FEW SIMILAR TRAPS MADE OVER HERE FROM LOCAL MATERIALS ........... THE PATTERN OF THAT WEAVE MUST BE VERY WIDE SPREAD ACROSS ASIA ....... AS IVE SEEN THE SAME CONFIGURATION IN POULTRY SUN COOPS ALL OVER ASIA AND ITS ISLANDS

Yeah,those sort of traps are pretty generic,as are these,fly anywhere around the coasts and they are easily spotted from the air....

your right on rolfe, the kids over here are to busy out of it with drink and drugs, and couldn,t make faces never mind a quality trap like that.

Not all fish and crab traps are as intricate as those,heres two for mud-crabs,kids made them.

Set them on the edge of a mangrove swamp and no matter how rough-and-ready they look your still virtually guaranteed a meal Owt is better than nowt
