Guest pip
I have a railway embankment close to me that is alive with rabbits.Problem is i ve no rabbit dog or gun or ferret. What is the best method of catching rabbits without the above? Quote Link to post
Rolfe 2
Cage traps or Snares assuming you have permission on the land adjoining the railway embankment. BUT....... DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CATCH RABBITS USING EITHER OF THESE METHODS UNLESS YOU ARE COMPETENT AND CONFIDENT IN WHAT YOU ARE DOING... Good Luck Rolfe. Quote Link to post
Matt 160
Or fence wires where they are coming through onto the neighbouring fields. BUT you MUST have the permission of the landowner FIRST, and trespass on the railways is a criminal offence (unlike normal trespass). Quote Link to post
stubby 175
Ive done embankments with live catch traps, had approx 40 traps laid 20ft apart, baited with horse carrot's, as said, if your on the tracks your need certification, but if your work can be done, keeping the opposite side of a cable run, then techniqualy you DONT need any certification, just permission of course check traps daily, we did ok untill we moved the traps to an area near to a bridle path, where either kids or anti's saw them, and started stamping on the traps Quote Link to post
Guest pip
Can any one explain in a bit more detail. The line is no longer in use and i have permission right up it. Quote Link to post

Might seem a strange question but you have permission right up to the disused railway.Permission for what? You don't seem to have any rabbiting gear or knowledge. It's probably me being a bit thick.
