runforyourlife 361
I feed my ferrets on meat everyday, either raw cows off cuts from slaughter house, or boiled rabbit. Is this adviseable, or should i sometimes feed them dryed complete food, for vitamins and all that crap?? thanks Quote Link to post

Is this adviseable, or should i sometimes feed them dryed complete food, for vitamins and all that crap?? thanks Ferrets do VERY well on a good RAW meat diet, the only suggested change I personally would make to what you already do... is adding whole carcass ( bones and all) rabbit ( which seems to have everything they need) or chicken wings .. they need certain levels of calcium and the bones keep the teeth nice and white! The only good reason i can see in the dry complete food is convenience and possibly to avoid rot or flies laying eggs in it durin hot summer months, but this can be avoided by feeding in the cooler evenings and removing uneaten portions before the heat of the day. Also its been suggested (though i dont know as FACT) that fur and feather on occassion is required for a totally healthy ferret gut clean out... i'm sure the more experienced ferreters will have some good answers for you! stubby 175
why boiled rabbit? gut it and either feed whole as is, or chop into chunks, Quote Link to post
runforyourlife 361
Sorry, should have said, i do give them rare rabbit as well, and as for carcass, i give then chicks, and every rabbit head as well as there pelt. Cheers Quote Link to post
Ron Weasley 83
Whole carcass will have everything that's needed for a healthy diet. Just take the guts out and let them at it. It's definitely important that they get some bones and fur/feather too. I occassionally let mine have a raw egg as well. Quote Link to post

gnipper 6,778
Whole carcase is best, whole includes the guts though. Chicks are just a fluffy egg and aren't good if fed exclusively but now and again is ok. Quote Link to post
