Squirrels In Dreys

Just wondered whats the most squirrels people have had out of one drey, was out today and we got six out of one... most I've seen in one drey up to now...

Seldom more than 2, had 3 a couple of times but don't remember any more than 3!

 

Certainly never had 6 out of one, you must have gate crashed some party there!!

The most ive ever had out of one here is 4, the drey looked like Blenheim Palace, it was massive, two of us fired together and it all came crashing down and we picked up the four.

I would say the most common is two around here, 6!, it must have been the squirrel equivalent of the Waltons.

three is the most i have seen

plenty of 3 & 4s and a few 5s but never a 6 well done

we regularly get 5 or 6 but the most i have seen was 11 including young we must have pushed the ones from the branches back into the dreys but to remove the drey it took 15 cartridges including killing the odd squirrel that poked its head out

Three is the most i have seen poked from dreys before,, most of the squirrels homes are in holes in trees in my woods,, Very few dreys,, and only small ones at that.

Yep ian certainly the most i have shot out of a drey with three shots, apart from the one you got

had 6 in once but they were 4young ones and the adults the most squirells weve shot in oine day to 3 teams of 4 guns was 242 in a 110 acre wood on a shoot i do the fox job on.that was in2002 since then the wood has been shot at the end of the game season and the numbers have dropped to around 60- every year.still good fun.

Thats some amount gary 242 out of a 110 acre wood gary, real good fun , these were 3 males, 3 females in the drey.

the main reason for that amount of the grey rats is there is 3 release pens in the wood and about 25 feeders as well as the keeper hand feeds the rides every other day.the day we shot the big bag we counted between us about 550 shots all with shotguns.alot of the shots were to blow the dreys out we didnt use poles which would have been better but a lot of the dreys were in high beech and ash trees.
