SNAP SHOT 194
Is it factory cut or riflesmith cut, just a question, As i know most of the gunny's here use 1/2 20 thread. Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
It's (I think) smith cut, sent for screwcut by the importers. i'm hoping it's 1/2" UNF (not that I know what that means!!) as I have an ASE moderator with that thread. Because of the cheapness of 223 ammo, it's still cheaper for me to get that for range work (and probably the odd fox), but the figures don't work so well with a moderator as well. I have mounts and a scope so as long as it's a Weaver rail, all I would need is the gun. There is a Tikka T3 Hunter for £620 that has the right thread, but a Howa 1500 with thumbhole laminate for £650/£700 is my preferred choice as it's heavy barrel and should therefore be better for an afternoon at the range. I have 243 for foxing and that's a sporter barrel, and the hornet for rabbits, again with a light barrel, so 223 heavy barrel would probably be better.... Quote Link to post

njc110381 0
Get a CZ! Here's mine, threaded 1/2 UNF Quote Link to post
James@Scarborough 0
Get what you feel comfortable with, but shop around, those prices are not too keen. £620 for a T3 Hunter is £70 over priced. Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
The T3 price is for the MT variant (short barrel and screw cut). I haven't seen that for less; most will need a cut following purchase so it doesn't look too bad. Tbh, I doubt I will get that anyway, better options for me. NJC - that CZ looks lovely, just can't find anywhere with one. Might have to order but we'll see. Quote Link to post
