luketurner 0
Hi all, Just got my first rifle last Sunday ( CZ .17 ) Thought I got a good package, but after reading a few posts have started to think that my scope could be better. BSA Sweet 17 AO 6-18 x 40 is my scope, I am only shooting bunnies and would like to eventually be confident at about 130 yards. Is this scope going to be good enough for the job? If not do you think the gun shop would exchange it if I stump up some more money? Any advice on a scope for the job would be appreciated ( around the £ 200 if poss ) Love the gun by the way, awesome bit of kit. Cheers Luke Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
HMR I assume or is it a Mach 2! The BSA would not be my first choice although from what I have seen of them they are not that bad! Suck it and see as they say, if you want to upgrade later there are loads to choose from, but don't be too hasty! Quote Link to post

Or is it soiled goods now? Whats the best scope for about 200 - 250? Quote Link to post

I have no idea if your dealer will "change/exchange" you scope, from what I have seen of these BSA jobs, they are better than many would expect! A more expensive scope choice would be down to you, target, hunting, both, close, far, all weather, day only, night as well, reticle choice, ammo choice range of target, etc, etc, it goes on and on, try what you have, get used to what you do, and then make your own informed choices based on experience and personal choice. The only real suggestion I would make scope wise is keep it as clear and crisp as you can afford! Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
The only way is to take it out and see, if the optics are clear and you can hit stuff, no problem. Check to see if the zero changes when you change the magnification, that'll be annoying. Otherwise, as Deker says, you need to see how you get on. If you look at the optics now, though, and think "I just can't get on with this", then change it, the confidence factor is a big one. If you do swap, Bushnell Trophy is good for that sort of money, or MTC Optics. Or Falcon Optics (£220, Menace 4.5-18x56, and would probably be my choice). I have a Trophy and it's excellent for the money. I've had two MTC scopes (first had dust on the reticle) and they're good. Optically sound, well made and not expensive. MTC give good customer service, or so I hear as I went through the retailer (Uttings) and got good service there also. Falcon has good reviews and seems to be an excellent mil-dot scope. Bushnell is normal X hair and MTC is their SCB ret, which is a love it or hate it affair. Quote Link to post
James@Scarborough 0
My mate had a Sweet 17, didn't get on with it, and changed it for a Bushnell. It's all about personal choice. Quote Link to post
