out today for a deer

Recommended Posts

got up at 6 this morning headed off to my shooting ground for a last chance of a deer as its over tomorrow i got there just after 7, after about a 1/2 a hour on i stalked along a wood by a wire fence

the wind and sun was at my back but i could do nothing about, as nice and slow along i walked i stopped dead something caught my eye and again about 80 yards away i opened my shooting sticks

mounted my 243 for a look. a young doe lying down chewing away what gave her away was her ears flicking away i lined her up for a neck shot took my time as i was on the sticks and i had time, bang! she never knew what hit her,as the shot rang out 5 or 6 other ran and the were even closer but were just out of sight .i dress her and pulled out to the tree line and left her there.i stalk on with no other sighting so head back for the jeep to pick up my doe.met the farmer i was talking about next year that ok he said and came up the field in the tractor to pick the deer for me.

i was out lamping for a few nights on foxes, running my bitch on the odd hare but it all most over for this year doing the last few jobs around to keep the farmers happy so we get back next year.this is the time of year i hate, hunting over the clay shooting has'nt started yet but me and clayman are training already.roll on next year

heres a few photo i have from this week or so,

my gang testing my handy work.

and good to help out
