Brace of chicken eaters accounted for .

Recommended Posts

We did a bit of ratting earlier on in the week [pics were crap]on an organic chiken farm and the farmer asked me if i'd pop in one night with the rifle as they have just changed crops on one shed and the local foxes are having a field day ,jumping the electric fence no less and stealing the young white poults. This was seen at 3.30 in the afternoon .Well i thought straight away that there was bound to be cubs about somewhere ,but i felt obliged to have a look .Parked at the mobile home at 6.30 pm , that is temparary home to the farmer and was told that there was one down there now as the chicken were restless .Put the orange filter on the lightforce lamp which is mounted on the .222 and walked the short track to the organic field .A quick shine around the whole field revealed not one but 5 sets of eyes though one was a badger .Concentrated on the nearest fox and watched him run straight towards me even though i darnt sqeak here .I realised i was stood in the only gateway to this field and charlie wanted out .Down on the bipod and took this one at 30yds .No time to study it as another was running at me fast .

Shouted loudly at which it retreated to the hedge line where i took it .Scanned the field for the other 2 and saw them running to the far hedge and then disappear .Maybe it wasnt the only exit as they were defo gone ,probably through a slip under the hedge .The badger was just ambling about with no care in the world ,probably as guilty as the foxes but .......

One of them was a dog fox in good condition and the other was a barren vixen with a touch of mange .

Well pleased with the brace however and showed the farmer who offered to pay me 20 quid for my trouble ,which i declined .

I know for a fact that a Welsh pest cotrol firm has promised to deal with his pest problems ,including foxes for a price , but im not about to have anyone else muscling in on my ground .They stung the farmer big time on some gassed rats that we had to go back and do propperly.Their idea of contol is to show up once a month and stuff some poison in boxes .Fecking joke .All because farmer has to be farm assured to sell egges at best price .He cant get farm assured unless he has a pest control firm on the case to provide the necessary paper work and rip him off financially .

ps .The firm from Wales was cheaper than our local guys but the service is shite .
