steffan1991 0
how long do you keep your ferret down the hole becos my ferrets will go down pop out now and again but dont bolt anything and they do this in every warren i try (about 5-6 a day) Quote Link to post
richie 1
two of my main working ferrets, a hob & jill will always stay down untill either everything has bolted or they have killed whats under. i know if i enter them & they keep appearing & showing no signs of interest there is nothing down there & move onto the next set.. they may be other reasons why there not boltng, people making noise above ground, your scent blowing down their warrens or not entering enough ferrets down to get at them so they just end up giving the ferrets the run around. most times if a rabbit hears movement above ground they will rather face the ferret than come out. are you sure the warrens are occupied ? for example, this sunday a couple of us went out to try a new plot with a warren with over 25 or so holes & with signs of activity, droppings at most holes & with no crap blocking them. we spent a while netting up & throwing the long net around, entered the ferrets & had one bolter which we got in the longnet & heard one getting killed under. after that the ferrets stayed under for another 10 minutes them started to surface, go back in again & straight back out. i dont know if anyone else has noticed the increasing amount of rabbits laying rough. Guest bigredbusa
try a brick tied round it's neck , drop in deep hole and it should stay down for a while . now for serious answer , just keep doing what you are doing , has the fert seen a rabbit yet? has it been out with a worker for it to follow ? give it a go , once it has clicked there will be no stopping it Quote Link to post

stubby 175
grim it was me that deleated your post, steffan, I get the impression from your question, that you have one ferret, if so, theres your answer, combine that with richie's answer, on most warrens, were entering 5 to 6 ferrets, if your entering only one, the rabbits have no need to bolt, they know the warren better than the fert, and can give it the run around underground, either ge more ferts, or try and find another ferreter to go out with it could also be, that another ferreter, is hitting the warrens that your trying before you Quote Link to post
olliedakennard 0
As long as a piece of string, it all depends on how big the warren is how many i expect to get what ferrets i use and wether i use purse nets or long nets. all the best ollie Quote Link to post
