Same as every where mate . Ground changes from place to place . I’ve Earth that are peat bog you’d dig with a spoon, sand earths, gravel earth, stoney earths , clay earths and undiggable earths . It depends on how much hardship or risk you want

Like you said different terrain. Over here in the UK. Be different up and down the country. Like over east lot of flint. Derby stoney earth. Dales be peaty. Still hard ground in some areas. Still some soft in hard ground areas. But mainly it's hard or soft I'm guessing on different parts of the country.

Ireland varies a lot. Could be fine rabbit sand in one spot and 2 mile down the road be peat. Certain areas be a majority of one or the other if you know what I mean but around me there’s a savage mix of soil.
