philpot 5,132
We have just come back from two weeks stay at our favourite place, Highlodge in Suffolk where for the past 21 years my wife, Trish and myself have enjoyed some of the best clay shooting in the uk, carp fishing outside the verander and superb sea fishing only 15mins away. Every time we stay there, we walk the the entire clay shooting layout when the ground has closed for the day to look at all 30 stands to get an idea where the clays will be going which I always enjoy. In past years I have taken my fac air rifle and done a bit of squirrel shooting as the whole ground is based in and around the edges of a large wood so plenty of cover for them. This year however, the car seemed to be so full taking all the gear I decided to leave the HW110 and air tank at home.............big mistake. This time as we walked through the woodland track, I have never seen so many squirrels, they were all over the place...........................oh bugger....................loads of squizzers and no bloody air rifle. To say I was gutted was an understatement, we even had them around the stands when we were actually shooting the clays. Needless to say, I will be taking the air rifle next year even if I have to buy a roof top box but sadly my roof bars do not fit the BMW 4x4 so not only a box but £300 for a special set of roof bars............................nahhhhh, Trish will have to stay at home or drive her car down as well. teagcoilh 5 Posted Sunday at 19:27 Report Share Posted Sunday at 19:27 Typical, isn’t it? Leave the air rifle at home and the squirrels throw a party! Next year, make sure there’s room for it, even if Trish has to drive separately! Quote Link to post
