Kent countryman 1 Posted yesterday at 16:53 Report Share Posted yesterday at 16:53 I’m afraid to admit, it’s been probably nearly a decade since I last worked a terrier, having lost the old boy a couple of years ago. He did enjoy spending his latter years being spoilt by my mrs, and living on the sofa. He was gift, from a decent old school Terrier Man, who got me, as a complete novice started, and kindly shared his experience and knowledge with me. How times have changed! sadly, a lot of the old farmers and landowners we used to help out have retired or passed away, and the new people more interested in making money and developing. Got me thinking, how hard it must be for someone with no hunting background (like me), and no friends or family who hunt to get into working terrier’s. Especially with finding a dog! Are the days numbered? Is it worth taking the risk, with mobile phones, a society hatred of hunting and social media, to help a stranger with a passion for fieldsports? Is this it? A dwindling number of ageing fools, who love to see their dogs work, but are potentially the last of the line? Quote Link to post
