gnipper 6,787
I've got a few still in the nests but all my hens that have finished rearing young now get chucked in the aviary to moult and are still trying to nest. I've had enough now and just want them to moult out.

Very strange. Was speaking to a chap down south. He was saying if the chicks are late to hatch they seem to get black spot. Strange how that works. He owns a bird company down south.

Less than normal, probably about 25 mules, no canaries and a couple of goldies. Might end up with a couple more mules in the aviary yet.

gnipper 6,787
My sheds not too bad being brick with a tiled roof. My season had a crap start with losing a couple of older hen canaries which I probably should have replaced before the season and the canary cock I got back off my mate had turned gay whilst its been at my mates. A couple of mates helped me out with some hens and I've ended up breeding a few off them.

Take them away mate nest pans. You don't want them mounting out and cold weather coming. Specially if you've got some decent canaries you don't want dropping dead. Bangersanmash 5,223 Posted Monday at 09:53 Report Share Posted Monday at 09:53 Mine are all hard in moult. Most of the young goldies are bald as f**k. Heads are bald. Look right c**ts. I'm hoping their not pecking each other. These are in a separate flight cage.
mitre 284 Posted Monday at 10:33 Report Share Posted Monday at 10:33 That's a pity all hard work to get the buggers to breed they bald on the heads like that do you think they might need a tonic because my aunt had a canary who had problems with feathers

Scares me this first moult. With the older birds some have a light moult. But youngens feathers drop fast. Knocks it out of them
