Groups do vary I confess and I have come down to 12'' targets so the groups never look at good as they did on the 4' target. My wife has done some lovely groups getting down to around 30mm for 6 arrows which impressed the hell out of me but then it opens up a bit. Looking forward to warmer dry weather as we have our own 1000mm target boss so ideal for the garden and on one of my perms in fact I have a quarry which is stuffed with an assortment of trees and ivy which will make a great field archery place although if we miss the target, the arrow is gone in the ground ivy and I am not buying a metal detector but my pal has one so perhaps not a total loss. I don't know if I told you, I have taken off the hunting sight and fitted a decent target sight and upgraded the reap peep sight for an adjustable apperature version which we also had fitted to my wife's bow as well. I was not happy with my arrow rest so a couple of weeks ago I had a drop down rest installled which I find to be much better and finally fitted a stabiliser unit to allow both front stabiliser and also a side/rear short stabiliser rod. I am now very happy with the set up and it is working well for me plus the fact that the tweeks I have had done is helping me to improve. I have also reduced the power on my bow from 56lb down to 42lb which for this old fart is very comfortable so I may stick with it for now. Both my wife (Trish) and myself seem to be carrying more stuff to the range so we invested in two Avalon semi rigid bow / gear bags to make life much easier with everything fitting in the bags so we can't forget things when we get to the range. I went to the range a couple of weeks ago to watch a crossbow match which I found really interesting and confess it is on my list to have a go. The archery range/shop owner is really into crossbow competitions as he damaged his shoulder and can no longer shoot with recurve or compound bows and he has said I can have a session with his kit but I can't afford to fall in love with that as again UK price is between £1500 and £2200 for the crossbow plus a set of bolts/arrows. Don't go down the crossbow route as well,it might get expensive. Quote Link to post

Yes they are a bit. I have no idea what the max range is I don't know but they were doing touching groups at the short 18mt range. I really fancy one for target, I would not hunt with one but again my quarry perm would be a wonderful venue for the crossbow. 1 Quote Link to post
