philpot 5,122
As I am an old fart so there is no heroics for me, this bow runs upto 70lb but I have set it to 54lb which I am very comfortable with so far and loving it. Phil 1 Quote Link to post

philpot 5,122
Not set at zero yet because the bloody peep sight is twisting so I am back at the range tomorrow afternoon and hope to sort it then. I am leaving the bow to get that sorted if need be while we are away and the arrows are too long so I am getting cut down from a huge 34'' down to 29''. My wife, Trish, is testing a compound bow tomorrow as well but this one has a maximum of 35lb so ideal for her, smaller and lighter so I may be buying another tomorrow if she likes it. As I have 12 arrows, assuming the weight is okay for her, I may have 6 of them cut down for her size. The arrows are carbon and perfectly straight and as they were included in my deal, we can split them to use for practice or garden use and later buy a decent set each. I have both a wrist trigger release and also a thumb release so I will no doubt lose one of them to Trish if she has the bow and I think that will be the Centric thumb release. If I have to replace it, I may try one from Temu as I have no intention of paying between £100 - £300 for a release and unless I am picked for the England team, I never will apend that much on a release. 1 Quote Link to post
philpot 5,122
WELL !!!!!!!!! my dear wife fell in love with the compound bow she was trying out so needless to say, I bought it for her, I knew this was not going to be cheap. A new release aid to go with the bow............. ouch. Nevertheless she did very well with it and finished the session on a high with a good group in the target. We popped down to another dealer on Friday to buy a few more things including a large foam target for use at home both inside and outside plus some nice bow bags etc etc etc etc.................... It's just as bad as shooting, the dealer's shop was amazing and we were a bit like kids in a candy shop. I have stopped now apart from some different arrows for Trish as her bow we think may need some lighter arrows than mine but she can buy those.............perhaps. Phil 1 1 Quote Link to post

philpot 5,122 Posted Wednesday at 17:28 Author Report Share Posted Wednesday at 17:28 I try to buy from my local range/dealer but as he is trying to sell up and retire, his stock is not so good. We got our bows from him but we have bought our follow up purchases from Custom Built Archery near Newark, about an hour from me. Yesterday we called in Clickers of Norwich for a couple of bits I wanted as we are in Suffolk and I am calling in again next week as I have a couple of arrow cases on order. 1 Quote Link to post

Do you think archery might overtake your air rifle enthusiasm, mate? Quote Link to post
philpot 5,122 Posted Wednesday at 20:34 Author Report Share Posted Wednesday at 20:34 Just now, shaaark said: Do you think archery might overtake your air rifle enthusiasm, mate? No as I used to be an active member of an archery club some years ago so nothing new, just a different type of bow and a reactivation of my old interest. I do more clay pigeon shooting than I do air rifle shooting anyway along with my carp fishing and sea fishing. As you can see my time is already split into different sections, archery is just another. Phil 1 Quote Link to post
