Windy or what.....

Recommended Posts

Over here in sunny Lincolnshire we have for over a month now had super strong winds, not gale force but bloody strong to the point that shooting with air rifles is a waste of time as the gusts vary so much and even with my Impact .25 fac, I cannot get a 45yd zero established let alone going out to 100yds.  To say I am pissed off is a slight understatement as all I have been able to do is pratt around in the RFD's 25mt range which is not going to tell me a great deal about holdover at 80yds or carry out a proper pellet test on the three types of pellet I will be using.  I spent £200 having all new seals fitted, full service and tune and as yet I have not even been out with it.

I have never known weather like this, yes of course we get windy days in Lincolnshire but not almost every day.  On Wednesday I was out in the boat on our carp syndicate lake in North Lincs dosing with blue dye to keep the alge bloom to a minimum and with the milfoil pond weed high in the water, it was not ideal to use the outboard motor so I rowed around the lake a few times as we put the dye in and with the wind I really knew I had a workout when I had finished, but at least it is done for another month.

Change of subject, I will be renovating an HW77 during the coming months and once the stock is stripped I fancy using a coloured stain such as green or red on the stock for a change and as this gun will not be a hunting rifle, I am not concerned about the colour.  Have any of you used a coloured stain and if so what make as I have no idea what to get.

Believe it or not, I have just come back into the house as my eyes are feckin watering like mad due to this lovely wind..............................................NOT HAPPY.

The North West has been bad too. Getting sick of it now.

I'll bet come October you can walk outside holding an open candle 🕯

About an hour after posting this thread, I popped down to the sea wall 1.5 mile away and the wind made it very difficult to stand still without the gusts pushing me around. Today no wind, Great, I can spend some time with the rifle............................then it started to really throw it down with rain.  Can't bloody win !!!

That is a real shame, I would be very upset if my trees were damaged.
