Ever seen someone snare a catfish ?

So here something... 

Recently learned about these deal called crab snares basically is weighted bait cage covered in heavy mono snare loops . Real popular on the West Coast for casting out on beaches and jetties and the like . Crab tries to get the bait moves the rod tip and the snare catch int he legs when you reel in. Really effective for there crabs apparently .

And I see crab swimming around a lot so figured I'd try and make one because I like trying new stuff 

So threw this lil guy together

Well apparently a lot of people like these because it's hard to catch any other then crab ...but ....

Seen the crab trap on the top diagram in California,your version for cats is inventive.Reminds me a little of the bal-chatri trap I saw once.

Iv saw trout being snaresX didn’t believe it an called the lads bluff and he showed me haha was impressive haha

 

I Watched a video on YouTube I think it was a while back an some young lad walks the beaches an find loads them crab snares, some proper custom made with fancy cages like skulls an stuff, reckons he makes good money selling them on again, was interesting to say the least

You can snare salmon,but there’s easier ways,they aren’t so difficult,even caught them by hand in certain places.

No,never seen that,but live catching BOPs isn’t such a big thing in UK with ABCR birds readily available.

I was just fascinated mate to be howbstzx he said it was salmon they used to do when he was younger an skint but showed me on a big brownie sat under a bridge under a big full moon, like ye say j imagine much easier ways but cool as fcuk none the less haha it’s summat I’ll have to try an show kids haha

Was another old man in his 70s that showed me how to do that, he flew pigeons up the north a Scotland an was plagued with falcons before I met him, he was showing me how it would work in theory but obviously never done it for real, clever tho haha

Is there a harness on the bird with the snares fitted?

Aye like a jumper made out of tights was one I saw, proper home made think he said an Arab showed him or told him a bout it, might not have been an actual Arab tho I class all them sand dwelling folk as Arabs haha
