Knifebar 0
Starlings - Ummm Are these birds protected or can they be shot. I have heard lots of people complaining about them. Although I never viewed them myself as vermin. Knifebar Quote Link to post
Foxgun Tom 75
I'm almost positive you can still shoot them here in the UK under the general open license as vermin?, Their numbers have significantly declined over the years you also need a good reason to shoot them?? just because they are on the list is'nt a good reason, If there's a health hazard or damaging crops eg: fouling grain in storage then have a go at controlling numbers, I personally have had no reason to shoot one for years Tom Starlings - Ummm Are these birds protected or can they be shot. SportingShooter 0
Starlings were removed from the General Lisence in 2005. im not sure about the Irish general licenses but they were removed from english licenses in 2005 but can still be shot in Wales and Scotland if you have a good reason, such as public health etc i have never shot one always seems a shame to do so but i was assured by an italian who lives here in wales that they go very well with a bolognese sauce! thanks ss06 Quote Link to post
Deker 3,453
Sparrows and starlings are no longer on the general licences for England. Therefore you cannot shot them in England, although they can still be shot in Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland. Quote Link to post
Knifebar 0
I know a farmer and he is tortured with them, 100s they come down into the silage and feed and foul everywhere. They are a scourge, the cows do be put of by them as the place is black with them. Knifebar Quote Link to post
