Stallion 0
Were there any more holes in the vicinity or was it just the one? If it were rat there would be a bolt hole somewhere close by......my guess is rat. Mink......although they would use it, tend to use drier areas for their sleeping quarters...IE...rabbit buries and tree root areas slightly up form the water line. Stallion. Tallyho 181
mink do have bolt holes that lead out to the water. so it could be that.

Guest rexdigger
i might be wrong but could it be a kingfisher???
J Darcy 5,871
Too low for kingfisher and , guessing at scale, too large. I would say it is not an otter as there are no slide marks on the run-up to it. Doesnt look that used, perhaps an old rat/vole hole??
Clipper 207
the water was very high , no otters in area ,,, just voles rats mink an kingfishers, the hole was about the size of a fist
