Rigging a square mesh long net.

How do you put the bagging in a square mesh long net? Do you make it a few meshes deeper than a diamond meshed longnet? If you halve the length of the stretched net as in in diamond mesh net it seems a bit like a curtain in square mesh. Any advice would be appreciated.

I might be wrong, It's times like this I wish Alan (Tiercel) was still alive.  But I dont think you can use a square mesh net for longnetting.  The way it is made it is designed to be hung tight, whereas a diamond mesh has the slank built into it naturally.  Thinking about it you would roughly need to make it 4 times longer then a diamond mesh so the squares would form diamonds.  But that is only my thoughts @netrigger might be able to provide a better answer.

Folk reckon square mesh was is in long nets many moons ago , maybe they did but I have never seen or used one or know anyone in the past and present who have 

You will still need to add the slack ,if you are up for giving one a go .

Thanks for your replies. It seemed a good idea, so I made a couple of stop nets, which I will try out, but then could not see how a longnet would not look like a curtain of mesh to a rabbit.  Back to diamond mesh.
