Breandan Colemans Charity Dog Show Sunday 6th August 23 in Aid of “ Help The Homeless Craigavon “

In the heart of Craigavon on the southern shores of Lough Neagh with its rich tapestry of Lakeland, lies the beautiful Silverwood Equestrian Arena. This was the venue for the North Armagh Working Terrier Charity Dog Show Sunday 6thAugust 23.

Rising with the lark on Sunday morning, the window view from my kitchen was dictating to me the weather forecast for the day was going to be good. It was a  great feeling to be alive, in good health, able and arriving at our short destination at approximately 10.30am.

The atmosphere in the field was electric with the sound of barking dogs, and Breandan Coleman scurring about putting the finishing touches to what was to be a most memorable day.

The good Canine folk of Ireland, both north and south of the border came out in force to support this very special cause.

I have said it before and I will say it again, the generosity of our Country Sports fraternity knows no bounds when it comes to Charity events, and many Charities have benefited from our dog shows up and down the country through the years.

It was great to see so many huntsmen and women at this working dog show. Not long into the field, I bumped into the “ King of the Castle  himself “ Albertj Titterington who was also to be one of the judges on the day.

It was nice to get a catch up with Albert, and straight from the man himself The Great Game Fairs of Ireland will be going ahead in August 2024 and as usual will be a great window for Country Sports both north and south of the border.

Niall O Cloghan and sons were there with their brilliant Terrier Maize and what an interest this event generates. The cheers, banter,Laughter, and excitement of our terrier men around the Maize was just something else. Well done team O Cloghan.

Barry O Breins truck pulling was a great crowd pleaser and again a great event to be part of this top charity show. Well done Barry.

The wee people came out in force at Sundays show. I can honestly say this was the biggest child handling class I have seen this year. Congratulations to you all, you were all winners in my eyes. Breandan Coleman announced that every child in the ring will get an ice cream poke from the ice cream van on site. And that they did in force.

Upwards and onwards, time passes so quickly when you are having fun, and very soon it was showing time.

And Finally, Finally, the best I always save to last. Well what can I say that will gather the skills, fuelled spirit and determination of Breandan Coleman both in running and organising this top dog show in the face of adversity.

Along with your dad and your brilliant back up team, you pulled out all the stops together, and presented a great sporting event with super efficiency. I must say I have the greatest respect for anyone who bothers to put on a show and goes through all the loops to get there. You reached this on Sunday 100% Breandan.

Remember all good Canine men and women its your money that will help ease the pain and suffering in some small way of the people sleeping rough in the Craigavon area community.

Breandan Coleman, you are a young man    with a giving heart, and well done for contributing to this very worthy cause.  Thank you for the memories.

Margaret Mc Stay
