I'm not sure if this gets easier with repetition, or if its an individual ferret thing but she really didn't like it on my first try and I was worried about the distress it caused her. The first time was basically to test whether she could get it off, so I left her for an hour in the hutch before risking taking her off to work. Without thinking I took it off again after I was satisfied she couldn't remove it herself. This turned out to be a blessing because by the time I had packed all the kit ready to go she was fast asleep. Well the good news is that I managed to get it on without any struggle during that kind of sleepy stage they go through whilst waking up and she didn't make any fuss at all. Don't know if anyone else has a collar shy ferret, but I hope this helps if you do G Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709 Posted January 29, 2008 Report Share Posted January 29, 2008 well i know when i have put a collar on a pup for the first time its walked backwards to try to get it off, i suppose like anything you put a collar on its a bit alien for them to start with, but they get to accept it eventually Quote Link to post
dytkos 18,130 Posted January 29, 2008 Report Share Posted January 29, 2008 Buy a "normal" collar from Ebay, (about 4 quid delivered), put this on a few times in the run/hutch, She'll soon get used to it and if it comes off, you'll be able to find it easily.
