HI lads i have been asked to go on a fox shoot in a couple of weeks time and just wondered what size of catridge would be safe to use in my gun, its a fabarm o/u its chambered 2,3/4 any info much appreciated thanks

hi mate

in my experience as a part time keeper the cartridges that drop the most foxes for me are bb in open bore nd number 1 in choke barrel, deadly! id advise to put as heavy a cartridge as possible just for piece of mind, your fabarm if in good condition should take mini mags up to 42gr in 2 3/4". express make a good 42 grm load. sometimes hard to get hold of though.

36 grm will do fine though having dropped many a fox with eley alphamax 36 g BB. distance is the only thing limiting you now. 30 yrds in my view is max as at this range hes dead.

p.s check before hand if the fox shooter have a limit on shot size as some of the fox clubs i go to have a max of no.3 for safety, knocks sp.S.G's on the head.

I'd go for BB's out to 40 yards (36gram will be fine) and no farther than that. Good shooting

The 42gm Hull cartridge BB's work well enough for me! and they are only 2,3/4 inch carts

my head keeper a very good shotgun shot has regularly killed at 90 yards with aaa and bb's but unless your also very confident with your shooting stick to 40-50 max and avoid going away shots, very hard to kill cleanly when going away
