Last nights beacons for the Jubilee.

Recommended Posts

What a bloody disappointing and frankly pathetic display! I went to a good vantage point that gave me views over the Quantocks, Burnham, Brean and Weston, Brent Knoll and the Mendips and across to South Wales. I was expecting some real beacon fires but it seems most of them were stupid little gas powered things no better than a fag lighter. Previous shows have been spectacular but last nights effort made a tealight look bright.

That's the attitude you miserable bar steward, they lit the beacons near me , that date from the times of the Spanish invasions. Get a grip it's a get together of community not the last stand.....

You need to be careful sending beacons up into the sky , as it’s not just a signal for me to suit up , it’s a warning for everyone else

If the Jubilee was worth celebrating it should have been done properly. Beacons should have been seen from end to end of the country from every hill. Those bloody things last night weren't worth bothering with. Get your history right, beacons date back to the time of Viking invasions, not the twats from Toledo and Benidorm.
