SheepChaser 8,091
It’s an interesting thing. There are more wolves now doing damage in parts of Europe than folk think. I’ve just been chatting to a Dutch guy and they have a pack that has crossed from Poland! There have been maybe 100 sheep and a few calves killed so far but assumedly it will get worse ......they are struggling to use live stock guardian dogs as it’s such a populated country, and are having to go down the electric fencing route. Germany has a major problem with it now, with a lot of stock killed. 1 Quote Link to post

Amazing to think they once hunted in these shores, proper apex predators of Europe. Quote Link to post
SheepChaser 8,091
They crossed three major rivers abs several motorways from Poland through Germany etc Quote Link to post
SheepChaser 8,091
That’s what I’ve heard to mate. It’s a bit of a funny thing, no one really talks about it but they are spreading fast and growing in number fast. But think about it, they have a number of pups, generally rear most of them, and don’t have any natural predators and are smart enough to avoid most natural causes to it seems. Over protection is going to bite someone in the arse quite literally one day. Quote Link to post

mushroom 14,105
I went to a museum somewhere here in the Pyranees and the collars for these types of dogs were brutal to say the least. Any wolf going for the neck wasn't walking away. The shaking and body slamming that is basically a dog fight, would impale and rip at the wolves. Wolves are smart as F and wouldn't be going back for another try. Especially when easier and less lethal options are available. I can't find the photos but I could've sworn I posted them on here, years ago mind. Quote Link to post
SheepChaser 8,091
I remember sitting by a fire years ago in the mountains in Bulgaria and laughing and saying to a girl, that someone was doing a great wolf impression. Her answer wasn’t what I was expecting oh no, that’s a real wolf they are probably not too far away oh joy. Quote Link to post
