Plymouth mum's Don't Dump It group matches thousands of people with free stuff - Plymouth Live (plymouthherald.co.uk)

thought id put up a good news story out of covid, alot of plymouth as a whole has come together and is trying to reduce waste and help others. the article gives info on who set it up, dawn, and from the back of this she has now set up a food bank that members donate and people can just go help themselves. no involvement from council required. you see some tragic posts on there ( a house fire was one that comes to mind) but the people of Plymouth helped to get them back on there feet.

the article is a month old but it made me think, there's a lot of people all over the country and maybe some other local areas could do with something similar.

That’s great stuff that is mate, I love things like that.

We need a lot more emphasis on stuff like that and a lot less headlines about “Black Friday” and people treading on each other’s head for a new telly ?

We do mate, especially when all we seem to see is doom and gloom. The page on fb is constantly just full of people giving all sorts and you really do see the difference its making to local people which is what I find to be best part, it's local

There was a similar slant on my local radio station this morning (Wave 105). He was talking about recurring vandalism in a Gosport cemetery and how that gets reported on, but nobody reports on all the locals who come out and clear it all off. He likened it to how we all heard about what happened in Bristol recently, but few people reported on the locals who came out with cups of tea for the police.
