Just wondered what kennel heaters you lads are using and if you can recommend any decent ones wether its tube heaters or the red heat lamp/bulb design. Anyone use the 250 watt bulbs and if so are they sufficient to keep a dog warm enough in the winter months in a wooden kennel?

Thanks.

I have used both....

i bought a tube heater from argos years ago and took it back the same day.....unless you touched it you couldn't feel any warmth...f***ing useless

the heat lamps......started with a red 250....great heat from it...but i bought the cheapest lamp and bulb....they would last a few month then the bulb would go ...and very often i couldn't then unscrew the bulb from the lamp so ended up binning both...this happened a few times... also the red light is still light and i wondered if it would affect the dogs sleeping pattern..

so i moved over to a ceramic bulb....these only give off heat no light....i also upgraded to a more professional set up the lamp and bulb for around £35...and i got a lower power bulb ..might be 150 i think....anyway still give off good heat in a warm wooden box....and i still have the same lamp and bulb...must be 5-6 year now

Cheers Tommo appreciate the reply mate. Think I'll go with the lamp and bulb set up then but opt for one a bit better quality ?
