Greyman 30,720
Sorry if I put this in the wrong place I don’t frequent these parts regularly, I have an old mercury that I,ve mucked about with for years tuned it to within an inch of its life, but the articulated cocking arm has snapped and been welded a few times over the years and now it’s taken on a curve and seems to be jamming and won’t allow the gun to cock anymore, so would anyone have a cocking lever they would sell or can anyone direct me to someone that sells them willing to buy a complete gun if anyone has an old knackered one they would be willing to sell for spares cheers GM 1 Quote Link to post
Greyman 30,720
Tried them mate not in stock and apparently discontinued, so my next question if anyone knows the answer is, is the later bsa meteor cocking arm the same size as the mercury as they both look the same Quote Link to post

Again, No good John.. Quote Link to post
Dervburner 2,549
It depends how much you want to spend, but if you know any small engineering shops they might be willing to make a new one for you? 1 Quote Link to post
Greyman 30,720
Did look at making one myself don’t seem to hard, but I have managed to get the old one working again, with a bit of sanding and filing, seems a bit graunchy on the cocking stroke so am in the process of making a piston sleeve for it to keep the cocking leaver and spring separate, I got it for nothing many moons ago when it was running at 6ftlb and struggling to hit the end of a house, have had it in bits and tried out different things over the years and in reality it’s been a great learning curve that I should take away and apply to a more well engineered springer like a hw95/80, as I,ve homed the cylinder, tapered the breech port, cut and crowned the barrel made a ptfe piston head for it etc so in the end it’s running at 11,4 with a shortened spring, but the build quality just doesn’t seem to be able to cope any more and it’s getting to be something needs repairing every time I use it, thanks for the advice and pointers 1 Quote Link to post
johnbaz 363
I was given this Meteor by a friend, It had been in the back of an elderly chaps wardrobe for years, When he passed away the daughter found it and was horrified!!, She asked my mate to throw it in the dump, He brought it for me though!! I think (Pretty sure actually!) that someone pulled the trigger whilst cocking it as the stock has been split completely in two!! Luckily the breech yokes haven't bent uppards!! I think it snapped the forward cocking links as the replacements were home made and toffee was used!! John Quote Link to post
Greyman 30,720
Nice one John it’s the other part of mine that’s gone but looking at it I recon I can make it myself and out of a solid bar so it don’t keep bending and snapping all the time, but still going to keep me eye out out for an old knackered hw for a full strip and rebuild Edited June 26, 2020 by Greyman Quote Link to post
