Air bows?

Are they legal in Britain.

I fancy the umerex airjavelin but don't see it for sale!

I may of read something in the firearms guidance years ago but I don't know if anything has changed.

If I remember correctly, they are legal - they don't come under airgun rules because the probe that shoots the arrow isn't discharging a projectile from inside like a barrel would - the arrow slides over the probe.

So, despite how it looks and operates, it's not classed as any kind of gun so, there's no 12ftlb limit either.

 

But, It will still be illegal to hunt with one because of the arrows.

I don't know mate - Google lists them at a few UK shops but, you'd probably have to check who's actually got one.

The best air bows are made by FX in Sweden. They are modeled on the fac Air rifles such as the Impact or Crown. FX is now imported by the Sportman Gun Centre but I am not sure if they can be imported. They are featured every now and then on 'Airgun 101' channel and each of the contributers there is a selection of past videos, I know 'Ted's Holdover' channel has one and there was some footage showing some hunting using the FX air bow / gun.

£1100!!! I don't bloody think so! They are only a few hundred dollars! Forget it, cheaper buy a bow.

Your kidding aren't you!

I can get a twanger for a lot less fully equipped, err for target shooting of course.
