Bosun11 537
Never seen a working mule in England in my 53 years. Recon they went the way of the dinosaur after the great wars. Only ones i've seen have been in those 'adventure farms' where people take snot nosed kids to gawp at strange farm breeds.

We had our work horses sussed hundreds of years before America was founded, the mule was used in war time by us as a load carrier etc and stayed until motor transport took over..The need for a quick load carrier in the US ment the mule was easier to breed as they are tough old things that could cope with the climate and conditions better than a horse bed for a different terrain, weather etc would..Seen a few pics of mules out hunting with hounds and there used to be a Ginnet living in a field not far from me which is a mule but bred the other way round, horse mother donkey sire, funny looking thing and it had huge ears...
Rickshaw swami 4,321
thanks y'all for the info.A ginnet is a female mule.If you breed the other way male horse to mare donkey you get a Henny. You don't see many of these. The old timers in Dixie believed they were cursed same as a hen who crows.
