speedlamper 0
ftp - file transfer protocol, used to transfer files from computer to your internet server, you'll need a ftp program to do this admin cp - admin control panel, change settings on your board webhost - this is the company that provides a server where your invision board will be, a half decent provider should help you in getting started
IanB 0
You can get web hosting for peanuts these days, but when your site grows you need a high specification setup depending on what your site will be mainly using... I started using shared hosting, which is fine for a small forum/site, then moved to a semi-dedicated server...then a fully dedicated managed server, dedicated to this site only... mainly because of the high amount of users online at once using processor power and memory... which would cripple a shared account.. Shot am I right in saying you have purchased the actual script software itself to install on your own webhosting or have you went for the webhosting with IPB installed by the same company.. Guest SHOT
Shot am I right in saying you have purchased the actual script software itself to install on your own webhosting or have you went for the webhosting with IPB installed by the same company.. ian i wasnt sure what i was buying ,had no idea there be this much involved. so far with ipboard ive bought something called a standard licence and some advanced hosting/forum package that i cant access control panel etc, i can click on the cp buttons but they take so long trying to open.. it times out,not sure what the reason is. either way ive give up it was a light hearted attempt anyway, they mention yesterday i could get a refund on the licence seeing as ive already bought hosting. i,ll take it from there cheers.
