Mine was doing trhat would jump a 7 foot fence but nothing she could see through, i took her the kids park and locket her in and left her and this has got rounded tops so the dog doesn't want to put its feet on this got her jumping properly. She will still go under rather than over if she can though

Sounds to me as though your dogs might be lacking in confidence a bit when it comes to jumping. I had a collie x that was like this- he could jump, but was a little unsure especially at wire fences. I got him in a barn full of those big round straw bales with my saluki x and a mate's labrador and got them all hyped up and jumping from bale to bale. Once my collie x got hyped up and joined in, he soon forgot his worries and really enjoyed jumping after a few sessions of that. Getting the dog hyped up seemed to be the key- you know the score- plenty of squeaky voices, waving your arms and running around and keep repeating whatever word you use as a jump command.

Can you tell me the age of your pup please. And when you say it doesnt jump clean do you mean it springs off the top strand with its back legs?. JD

she is nearly 9 months, and the saluki is 6 mnths. she will jump over solid objects/fences but pushes off the top with front/back legs which ever. she will go over my garden fence /6ft/ but am using a 3 ft fence for training.

Hi mate try puting your arm over the barbed wire and making the dog jump over. There for the dog can see whats is got to jump over and you can stop the dog geting itself caught in barbed wire hope this helps its always worked for me all the best
