axle 63
no wonder it is hard to find good russels when none working bitches are getting bred to working dog/lines.why did the man who owns the dog want to line a good looking pet at one time if you wanted to use a good dog you had to show that your bitch was up to the job. are standards slipping? Russels have always been yard/stable dogs, every yard you go onto has a russel of some sort, not all terriers need to be bred for digging with, they certainly haven't in the past. Why do you only think people who are going to work these dogs should own them. Are you saying people should not have the joys of owning one of these little dogs unless they are going to dig foxs with them ? If i was trying to sell them as digging dogs then you could slate me all you like but i think i have been honest in what i have put about them. They may well turn into the best digging dogs you have ever seen, lets be honest, they have as much chance as any if given the right opportunity, the bitch has never been to ground but she has pushed foxs out of straw bales and wouldn't let go of one she caught to close to the chickens, she's a strong bitch of very nice type. axle 63
as a man who strives to keep good working white stuff, and this is is the HUNTING life forum then i would expect to see only working bred pups on here. There is enough add papers and mags for people who want non working bred terrier pups. you say you keep/dig to Gould black stuff, would you have bred from the bitch if she had been black??? The litter was bred for other reasons than digging with. Are you saying that people should only breed from digging dogs. If you have a good strain of working white dogs then i would expect you to only breed to keep that working line going, as i do with my Gouldie stuff. I would not however take it upon myself to tell other people what they should or shouldn't breed from. I may shoot every dog in your kennel if it didn't work the way i wanted it to and my dogs may not suit your requirements, but i still wouldn't tell you not to breed what you like. Personally, i've never seen a russel that could match the blacks for sheer strength and determination which is why i don't dig to them. Russels just don't suit me for digging dogs, so i stopped trying them years ago but they make great ratting/ rabbiting and fox chasing dogs around the yard for alot of people and bring alot of pleasure, should all those people in your opinion, not keep russels because they don't want to dig foxs with them ? Is catching rats and rabbits not classed as hunting ? Edited February 16, 2008 by axle Quote Link to post
axle 63
ok mate you have said enough. As have you ! Quote Link to post
Limb 31
The truth is, anyone wanting a pup from this litter has not been missled, the facts are there for anyone to read, you can make a decission based on the facts. There are no claims of huge digs, hours to ground. At the end of the day, you pay your money, you take your chance. They wouldn't suit me, but would be the perfect dog for somebody else.
