This guy only had 295 BC THIRTY THOUSAND  is serious wealth.

his coin's would of been near £5,5m in january.i remember a lad on the jeremy vine show telling jeremy he accidently threw his hard drive in the bin that had alot of btc on he even scoured the ash tip.but couldn't find the drive.the poor fecker must of been devastated

That is stomach churning to think how that played out but isn't that not only the peril of investing but stockpiling an entirely new idea around financing?

Crypto in its infancy wasn't worth keeping track of but the volatile market is boom or bust and these horror stories about seizure and loss are surprisingly common.

Would anyone take such risks with gold?

the profit gain's in gold are only small unless you rode the wave a good few yrs ago.but the money in gold is very safe.a safe deposit box is about £500 a year.so keeping gold tucked away in that is a great nest egg.

i think the volatility in crypto is what makes huge gain's or losses

Metals are a hedge against inflation. Gold's more stable because of its longevity but you're not going to invest in it if you want to try and capitalise on a volatile market. Like you said this time around its crypto.

Ultimately I'm not a gambler I just turn paper into metal and this way my savings accumulate over time.

dont you fancy dipping your toe into crypto chris.in for cheap. if it boom's great if it fail's then it fail's my opinion is it's worth a punt

I've been tempted but I honestly haven't researched it well enough. Any pointers?
