problems with mk3 collers

Im with Hob&jill ,, ,My ferrets used to slide them of,,..Untill i put them on just a little tighter :thumbs:

 

Also what i do sometimes is get them used to wearing the collars while there in there court and then they dont mind them on in the field.

Put them on so that you just about struggle to get the pin in the hole and they should'nt come off, I had a 4ft dig to one before I started doing this. If the ferret isn't choking or looking in distress its not too tight. Got a small jill here that fits the smallest hole on the collar and could probably go one further.

I get mine used to the collars when their kits, saves a load of feckin about when they start their careers.

Just got a Mark 3 off Santa and they do take some getting used to. The new collars don't have the "give" that the leather does and you do have to fasten them tightly, what seems to be too tight for them to stay on. Its not so bad for hobs who have a bigger head, but even using them for the first time I found that unless fastened on the last notch they will slip off a jill. I much prefer the leather collar - maybe one day deben will listen to the people who use their equipment, or someone else will come up with something better.
