But if your starting out, have a look on this web site http://photography-on-the.net/forum/ full of knowledge the above web site is. I only know about canon SLR's but have a look at 350D or 400D. I have a D50 (wish I could upgrade it) but am struggling in low light as the ISO jumps from 800 to 1600 which makes the pics very grainy Don't know if its been improved on the newer D40 or the higher spec Nikon models. I use the Nikon 18 - 55 mm lens that came with it and have a Nikkor 70 - 300 mm that I bought later, but I would really like an 18 - 200 - that would be much more useful I think.
