How to catch your own call bird

A while ago when I trapped for the LDNP I'd catch my call birds by setting up a Larsen near a layby frequented townies and used their or dummy fish and chip papers or take out meal containers. Worked a treat.

if poss try and trap one from a different area from where you setting your trap as maggies are quite territorial and you will catch plenty more this way :thumbs:

friend of mine who keeps canaries often put one out in a call cage in his garden. to protect them from the local sparrow hawks he places the call cadge with canari in side call section of larson trap. red factors he breeds but aint long before a magpie in the trap part of the trap.they do go mad for some little birds for sure.
