stop.end 4,082
Couldnt resist and went back out tonite for a bit of target practice.. set the target 30 yards away and got comfortable and same as yest bang on accurate at half power so id say 16 lb? Turned her down to 12lb she wasnt even hitting the target! Scope problem or would 12lb not humanely kill at say 30 yards.. complete novice on rifles btw Quote Link to post
The one 8,592
A 12lb gun will kill a rabbit at 30 yards no problem but why turn it down unless you've put it threw a chromo your guessing the power Quote Link to post
Jonjon79 13,358
Depending on the size of your practice target, reducing down to 12 ftlb from 16 ftlb may put the pellets trajectory low enough to miss the target. To answer your other question, yes 12 ftlb will get you a clean kill - lots of us use a little less than 12. .... As long as you can place the shot right, you'll do fine. It's just a case of getting to know your kit Atb Quote Link to post
stop.end 4,082
Took the rifle out lastnite to a farm i was asked to shoot for rats.. just landed around 7.30pm and after chatting to farmer for 10 mins headed off to feed barn to see if any rolands were about.. dusted 12 in the first half hour then walking between barns and sheds accounted for another 14.. now the thing is at 12 fps.. this rifle would not kill a rat at 30 yards..oh it would hit them and spin them but not good enough for an outright kill. So i put her to half and she was dusting rats at a serious pace.. i was using premier flat heas pellets and they were an excellent pellet for the rifle..they werent exiting the rat .. perfect for what i needed in the feed barn.. what a great nights craic was had and the terrier i had with me got to sccount for 6 or 7 of his own through the corrugated tin much to the delight of the farmer.. ill leave them tonight but go for an all out assault on them tomorrow night again.
