Irish Setter Boots

Have many tried these?

 

I've recently purchased some Red Wing boots for everyday wear, Red Wing make Irish Setter boots.

These are, without doubt, the best things I've ever worn on my feet, high quality leather, that will last for years, the type of boot you have re-soled.....So I'm thinking the hunting boots can't be that bad?

 

...but they are cheaper than Red Wing boots

 

Anyone?

i had a pair of irish setter boots years ago, they were the best boots i ever had comfy and waterproof, after 7 or 8 years they were fuked so i decided to buy another pair, i went for the elktracker boots. they were great for about a year then the water seeped in, they were a total disaster.

they are made in china now though i think the red wing boots are still made in usa, hope this helps make your mind up

Cheers mate, that's the trouble when they start outsourcing......had the same here with an outdoor/hunting brand fjallraven, supposed to be swedish, but I had trouble with a jacket & then you find out it's all outsourced now! Quality down & price up!

 

Shame that, because Red Wings are something else, but I'll probably give the Irish Setters a swerve now ;-)

know a lad had pair for hunting/digging - they had the frilly bit over laces like golf shoes

swore by them - had them good few seasons

eventually got another pair nowhere near as good

he reckoned the original ones were kangaroo leather and then newer ones were not and therefore not as good
