Furrosious ferreter 499
Went out this morning, 7am start. Got the flask sorted first off deiced the repaired car, and got the ferrets and gear, and off to pick my ferreting buddy up. Got to the ground and tryed a warren we had been saving to ferret through the summer and had great hopes for it too. Always had lots of activity on it. Tryed to put purse nets in but the ground was rock solid, (any tips) i have plastic pegs... So put the longnets out, in goes the ferret and the flask comes out, ferrtes in for about 10 mins so i start thinking shes killed down there, so as i walk to the hole i put her in she bolts one from a hole about 5 meters from me, but the rabbit hole jumps back into the warren as i think it saw me. But i hunker down and let the ferret work. Bolts one into the net, so of i run to collect it. One in the bag, im always happy when ive got one it means i have something to tempt her out if she stays down for a while. Then we have a crazy 5 minutes when another 3 bolted one rabbit taking the longnet out the ground, we both runnig after rabbits. (Makes me think i need a dog). Then it went dead again for the next 15 minutes, so we got the ferret out and put the nets away and went for a wonder, only had the hw57 and a catapult with us. I spotted a rabbit at about 40 meters out along a hedge line that luckily has a kink in it, so i managed to get to 20 meters from the rabbit and had a shot and rolled it over. So all in all a good day, 4 for the ferret and the first rabbit with the hw57. Thank you to "nels0n" for making the wonderful nets very highly recommend if anyone needs nets FF Sorry bout picture its of the warren but from the car bout 300 yards away. leegreen 2,256
Well done. You will ferret more rabbits with a dog and you will lay far less nets. Quote Link to post
