Thank you to all of the friends of the Great Game Fairs of Ireland who took time out over the Easter weekend to support our competitions and the promotion of the fairs on facebook. This took the Game Fair message to over 36,000 people on our Facebook page and several thousand more in our facebook group.

 

Several years ago we gave a commitment that we would provide top quality competitions for terrier, lurcher and whippet owners at the fairs with good prize funds at least equivalent to the other sports. I know this is appreciated by those terrier, lurcher and whippet enthusiasts/event organisers who sent personal messages of support to us for the effort we put in in promoting hunting with dogs.

As I said earlier several years ago we gave a commitment that we would provide top quality competitions for terrier, lurcher and whippet owners at the Great Game Fairs of Ireland with good prize funds at least equivalent to the other sports. We have met this commitment with providing some of the very best prizes in the UK or Ireland.

 

Somewhere it was claimed that we put up these valuable prizes in order to 'fill my pockets' at the expense of the terrier, whippet and lurcher owners. We get no such accusations from shooting, gundog , angling,or dog show competitors who are highly appreciative of the valuable prizes we put up.

 

One of our team, who has suggested that we review our commitment to terriers, lurchers and whippets has calculated that this year through the costs of renting and preparing the terrier, lurcher and whippet areas at both shows and us putting up the cash prizes and the cost of purchasing or bartering for other prizes through giving advertising our financial commitment to the terriers, lurchers and whippets this year is nearly £10,000. Sponsorship is difficult to acquire at any time so really the only sponsors interested in terrier, lurchers and whippets are dog food companies. For all our sporting competitions the organising club takes all competition entries towards club funds and with full price admission giving a net of VAT contribution of £8 or with a voucher £4 we would be very lucky to 'break even' on the terrier, lurcher and whippet events bearing in mind anything left out of this contribution has to o towards overheads for the overall estate rental, advertising and promotion, staffing, tentage and attractions.

 

In addition we sponsor other charitable events throughout the year.

 

We know our efforts are appreciated by those genuine terrier, lurcher and whippet enthusiasts/event organisers who send personal messages of support to us for the effort we put in in promoting hunting with dogs.

 

In spite of the misinformation posted by someone who has an apparent fixation with our events, we will not be deflected from our desire and commitment to promote and defend all countrysports and to assist fishing, shooting, gundog and working dog events especially those of a truly charitable nature although we will be reviewing the extent of our sponsorship in 2018.

 

We are rather plagued on this forum by a persistent critic who posts misinformation under the cloak of anonymity. We will not be responding to his/her posts or questions save if he/she genuinely wishes to have answers to relevant questions then if he/she pms me a telephone number one of our team will answer his/her questions.

So will you answer the question is every one wellcome . As i personally witnessed a disturbance last year at shanes.And when i asked people they all said that was with a well respected genuine working dog man and your self.

Would one not think the genuine dog men will stick togeather for the future of the hunting game. And the younger generation will lead by example of there peers.
