Guest MOLLY
Out with the dogs around the farm this morning, pitch black dark with only my torch to watch all 5 dogs get empty so i could go to work. Jazz knows all the places the feral cats poo, plus she also rather likes sheep poo! So it was not anything different to hear her eating in the dark, i swung the torch around to call her off and just noticed a small blue lump get devoured. I know the farmer puts rat poison in amongst the bales, so dragged her back home. I knew it was salt and water to get her to vomit, so poor lass very patiently let me pour it down her throat, within seconds she vomitted blue phlegm. She only ate a small amount but something kept telling me to put more salt water in, just to be safe. A little later she vomitted white froth, this i presumed was the end of it. I was then in the dilema, should i go to work or stay home just incaseshe ends up being sick everywhere, needing water etc. Thank god i did dither about for a while as a little later she vomitted a huge amount of last nights food, complete with a FULL bag of poison, she must have swallowed the whole bag and was clearing up the crumbs when i saw her So lucky in 2 respects. 1) That i just managed to see her swallow the last small bit of poison. 2) I was there when she vomitted the bag as im sure the pup or Khan would have ate her vomit if she didn't herself, i doubt very much a 22wk pup would have been able to withstand that amount. I would have returned from work tonight with at least one dead dog today and not have known how or why? Been to the vets for a vit k injection and some tablets. Vet advised next time to use soda crystals, just a syringe full in water would have done the trick quicker, and if it ever happens to anyone here, make sure you do it within half an hour of the dog ingesting the poison. The size of the bag she ate... Someone up there is looking after us today. Moll.

Guest SJM
My god you were lucky there Moll I hope shes ok? Keep an eye on her and keep plenty of fluids into her. I think there must be some kind of karma at work today cos I have had a total fuckup of a day we were out with the pups and I skidded on some ice and fell on my arse then I fell in the burn and got soaked then I lost my house keys and had to wait in the freezing cold with wet feet til my neighbour came home so I could use their phone to phone a locksmith but having read your post I now feel better cos I think if I had all that bad luck then someone out there has had some good luck to balance it out, could just have been you and your dog, am pleased for you shes ok, keep us posted

Guest MOLLY
Seen the farmer today, he is a lovely bloke and was upset it had happened, he has changed the poison he normally uses. He said he will pick up all the bags when they appear, he normally does but has just been laxidaisy lately. We went over and there were another 2 bags...does'nt bear thing about what could have happened! I got him to offer one to Jazz and she turned her nose up, hopefully being sick has put her off!!?? SJM...things can only get better Thanks everyone. Moll.
