leegreen 2,244
Back on topic. Had a good Whippet x Greyhound 21.5" 29lb, good feet, strike, blistering pace, fairly game, off the scale pray drive and exciting to watch . Down side, paper thin skin, shite bite and lack of stamina, bit dumb. She died in pursuit of quarry at 6 years old, hit a bench and it killed her outright. I had planned to have a litter with her. Would I have another......may be not.......or may be. 1 Quote Link to post

Maximus Ferret 2,065
Just wondering why you don't see many for sale I've had a few and there very good to watch if they control there speed there very capable on anything if bred right so why don't people breed them like Hancock with collie xs etc There's a limited demand for them for the reasons Leegreen say's above and because they're not so fashionable these days. Anyone who does want one can easily get a well bred one from the non-ped whippet racing crowd so a Hancock type breeder would never make any money from them. I had one myself back in the 80's. Game, fast, easily trained and good strike but with poor feet and easily torn skin she tended to get injured on anything rougher than grass. Cut stoppers, knocked toes, rips etc. etc. Edited November 1, 2016 by Maximus Ferret Quote Link to post
darbo 4,779
Carl Williams from south wales had a little breeding programme going back in the 90s. Saw one from his breeding go a few times fast exciting dog to watch dont know how it fared over the long term. Watched a fair few over the years . 2 Quote Link to post
