Worm Allergy

Alright lads was on the river yesterday fishing for trout with worm didn't catch anything and to make thing worse I've woke up this morning with swollen itchy as hell watery eyes. Also itchy neck and ears look like the fuk in elephant man. This has happened before but couldn't put my finger on what triggered it off after searching the internet seems it's not that uncommon to be allergic to worms had some Benadryl this morn also tried antiestimeans but still look like a c**t anyone else had this or know of any treatment/relief can't find anything on the web and woman at the pharmacy has never heard of it cheers lads

Sorry to hear that. Maybe give a different antihistamine a go like piriton? Were they worms bought from the tackle shop or dug yourself?

A 14-year-old boy reported many acute episodes, over the last two years, of rhinorrhea, sneezing, nasal itching, asthma and oedema to the face and lips. On his last visit, two days had passed from the start of the last episode, and bronchospasm, nasal obstruction, and rhinorrhea were still present. A smear of nasal mucus, stained by a modified Papanicolaou method (8), showed a dense layer of eosinophils. The acute episodes relapsed after a few days of appropriate pharmacological treatment. Subsequently the patient was skin-prick tested with a large panel of pollens, moulds, mites and the major food allergens, with negative results. The young patient reported having a hobby for some years of fishing, and that these episodes appeared when he used earthworms as bait, which he collected by himself from humid hearth. He correlated the appearance of symptoms to the action of piercing the bait onto the hook, which caused emission of a clear liquid, probably coelomatic fluid. He also stated that he had no symptoms when using maggots instead of earthworms.

Try using disposable latex gloves, I know someone who had similar issues and it stopped, no idea how to cure what you already have though

Cheers lads gona have to use gloves or change bait seems to have settled down a bit now with doubling the dose of Benadryl hopefully be better for my piss up tomorrow.

The next time I blank I'm going to use the excuse that I think the fish were allergic to worms.
