Fell boy 0
Thinking of buying a boresighter but are they any good and which one is the best? Quote Link to post
Deker 3,491
Unless you zero lots of guns from scratch or have plenty of cash I would not bother! I don't have any problem bore sighting my centrefires by eye down the barrel (the rimmy is easier). I start at about 100 yards, always get it close enough to land on an A4 sheet and then its very simple with just a couple of rounds to put it virtually spot on at almost any distance. You can do it quicker and easier with a bore sighter but once you have done it you will tend to only ever re zero by using a couple of rounds...no bore sighter will put you down the throat at 200-300 yards with the first shot although some will put you very close. So, once your done the bore sighter gets put away and forgotten until you get a new scope or gun? Hardly cost effective for most shooters! Obviously a personal view and now doubt you will get other views! Deker Quote Link to post
hairybull 3
I'm with you Deker, always just 'did it'. Got my last rifle boresighted at the gun shop when I picked it up- took me more bullets trying to find where it was shooting than it would have if I had done it myself!! Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
personally i think they are a waste of money. and can get them sighted with as many shots myself...just a gadget you don't need i think Quote Link to post
