shepp 2,285
Following me buying a second hand Stihl FS400 brush cutter, I was wondering what type of strimmer line is best and what diameter I should go for? I also need to buy a brush cutter blade, it will mostly be for tall grass and weeds up to the size of bramble bushes. I see there are a few styles, what would be the most usefully one if I just buy one? Cheers

Cheers the strimmer line we use to use was about 3-4 mm thick, it's a lot stronger and lasts longer, you can buy it on a drum like you buy fishing line......as for a blade, i found the one with three blades (like a mercades badge shape) the best for cutting long grass, but not so good on brambles....for brambles i found the blade, that looks similar to a power saw blade the best for that job, thats the only two you would need for what you want cut......

Cheers I just bought a new blade a couple of weeks ago, they arent cheap, mine cost around £40 BUT i have another blade that can cut through small christmas trees when on a 560,i will be in my lock-up next week,i will check the spools of strimmer cord but in all honesty they are all much of a muchness for ordinary garden jobs. shepp 2,285
Brush cutter blade, ernest doe stocks them. That's an expensive blade mate, I guess it must be good steel. I see DD Hire in Shepperton are a Stihl stockist, two stroke oil is a good price in there.
