Malt 379 Posted November 30, 2007 Report Share Posted November 30, 2007 I'd never used one up till a few weeks ago, used to play the waiting game, or in extreme cases, smoke em out! One of the boys who I go with got a ferret collar for his dad's terrier locater, (mk1, I think) we slipped it on my jil and sent her down the hole. After about 10 mins of no bolts & no ferrets, we found she was in one place, not moving at all. A quick dig in the ground later, we had both the ferret, and a nice sized rabbit for the pot. Me and two of the boys, are going to buy one between us. I think it will be money well spent. Quote Link to post

Guest Frank Posted November 30, 2007 Report Share Posted November 30, 2007 Allways bring a locator with me, stops the faffing about. Once good ferts start killing, they can do this very quick. They can also get stuck behind several bunnys, thats how some folk loose their ferts, if they dont have a locator. Personally, i think you owe it to the ferret, to have one. Quote Link to post

Good call there frank could,nt agree more.My first locator i had was mid80,s when i was a teenager the lads i ferreted with initially thought a waste of time once they saw how usefull they were they came round to the idea.I own the MK3 & i like to know where my jills are if i need to... stubby 175 Posted November 30, 2007 Report Share Posted November 30, 2007 yup, use a locator, but for those that say, mine never stay down, so dont need one, and as other has said "dont kill underground?" you have an obligation to not only get your ferrets out, but also any rabbits that may have been mauled by the fert's, rather than just leaving them there Quote Link to post
