QUALIFIERS FOR THE GREAT GAME FAIRS of IRELAND

 

There has been some confusion as to who awards Great Game Fairs of Ireland qualifiers and we wanted to make it clear that the decision on awarding qualifiers is made by the Game Fair team of Directors including Tom Barry our Director of working Dog events. Applications for qualifiers opened in January 2016 and a final call has now gone out for clubs wishing to have qualifiers for 2016. Late applications for qualifiers may be considered on a case by case basis.

 

We are pleased that it is recognised that the award of our qualifiers gives additional prestige to shows in Ireland and the UK and usually adds to the success of the show. It is expected that clubs and their members appreciate the work and the finance that goes into organising these championships. It must be made clear that while we wish to give working dog owners the widest possible opportunities to qualify their dogs, the grant of qualifiers to any show or club is not a RIGHT and DEMANDS for qualifiers, either made privately or especially those made publicly and accompanied by 'troll' activity, threats or claims of discrimination will normally mean that they are unlikely to be granted.

 

As most sporting organisations and clubs will be aware we have a small sponsorship fund which we use to support competitions, teams, clubs and especially charity events linked to sporting events. This is usually exhausted fairly early in the year but few if any clubs approaching us to ASK for assistance go away empty handed even if it is just support in kind that we give. The one exception to this is again clubs which DEMAND support or claim they are being DISCRIMINATED against if they see another club being supported financially by us. To them I would simply say we judge each case on its merits and as it is our money we make the final decision on the appropriateness of the request.
