Catapult Laws And Where To Shoot Them

Recommended Posts

Hi.

I'm new to all of this forum stuff but I'm looking for some genuine advice. Sifting through the Internet and I'm still stuck.

Now as far as I know, catapults are legal to use on common and private land. You can even carry one with you providing you don't have intention of harming someone and you use your common sense.

Using it on common land is again legal providing you observe your surroundings in order to prevent putting anyone at danger.

What defines public land though? Could someone use it if a public footpath runs through a conservation centre?.

I use a shotgun or air rifle over private land but I'm on about when I take the dog for a walk and decide to take a pigeon out the tree or a rabbit in the grass.

Also, what tips do people have when using catapults?.

This is all new and I'm sure most of you are thinking "why would you want to use one of those". I just want to explore it and see what it brings.

All of your help is much appreciated!

Thanks.

I'd say you could carry it anywhere but you can't hunt with it because it's private land even if a footpath runs through it. Also if the police think your using it for poaching, which hunting anything without permission from the landowner is, or you don't have a good reason to be carrying it then in theory you could loose it. I don't know what you mean by common land. All land is owned, common land is normally land certain groups have common or shared rights of use over
