THE COLLECTION FOR THE GREYHOUND WITH NO EARS

 

Some years ago a collection to help rehome a greyhound that was found with its ears cut off was carried out at one of our events. I contributed to it myself.

 

However a couple of internet 'trolls' have now claimed that we were the recipients of this money and/or benefitted from the money and/or it was used improperly. Over the years of the Great Game Fairs of Ireland as most of you will know we have supported more charitable and sporting causes than probably any other group in Ireland. Few if any sporting groups approaching us for assistance ever gets turned away. We cannot possibly track every donation to these causes or even as to how our own donations are used. We would ask the people involved in this collection to make public that we DID NOT benefit in any way from this collection and state what the collection was used for.

Thank you to several people who came back to advise me when this collection was made and who did this collection Quite bizarrely it appears it was people who appear to be close friends with the people making the accusation that the money was not used properly. Perhaps the people who made the collection will now speak out as to what was done with the money and make it clear that apart from me making a personal donation neither I or any of our team had anything to do with it.

 

Unfortunately possibly because of the success of our events a number of internet trolls are posting similarly spurious suggestions. For correct information on our events see our web sites or our Great Game Fairs of Ireland facebook page and group.

Thank you to everyone who has come forward with information on this topic and I now have full details of the collection. It was made at the ringside of the terrier, lurcher and whippet rings in June 2013. I now know who collected the first day and who collected the second day. I also have firm details of who allegedly ultimately took responsibility for the money. Very interestingly some of the collectors /people who ultimately took the responsibility for the money appear to be good friends of the people who have questioned our involvement in this and claimed either that we were the recipients of this money and/or benefitted from the money and/or that it was used improperly. I suggest they now ask their friends to clarify that we had absolutely nothing to do with the collection and the final destination of the money. Other than the questions raised by the 'trolls' I personally have no reason to doubt that it went to help the animal in question as the persons allegedly involved, are involved in other charity fund raising events in the area. So perhaps to clear this matter up to everyone's satisfaction they could advise us through HL or Facebook what they did with the money raised and how it was used to benefit the animal involved.

The 'trolls' who made the spurious and defamatory claims and insinuations that we were the recipients of this money and/or benefitted from the money and/or it was used improperly with our knowledge and/or consent have now taken down/changed the claims after being informed of the identity of the main collectors and the people who allegedly took responsibility for the money.

Two of the three people who it is alleged were collecting have come forward and while one had no further role after collecting and handing over the money, the other has claimed it was properly donated for the dog's welfare. I have no reason to doubt that it was AND obviously these people's recollection and that of the several people who came forward to state who the collectors were ( which coincided with my own recollections) HAVE cleared my name and those of my team from the ludicrous charges of impropriety and benefitting from the collection. As far as I am concerned the matter will end there.
